different moods {south florida child photographer}
I've done many minisession events in the past, and have often been asked by my clients if I can capture geniune images of their children in the short time of a minisession (usually 15-20 minutes). I have never had a problem in the past, but for fun I tested it out today on Reese. I'm sure many of you can attest to the fact that photographing your own children is way tougher than photographing someone else's child. Usually, my clients' children behave way better and listen to me more than my own children. My own kids get annoyed with me, are done taking photos in about 2 minutes, and then start to whine. Reese doesn't mind taking photos, but she is not easy to keep in one place or to listen to specific directions. During this "mini" shoot, she sat in the chair for a few shots, but then she was up, climbing the chair, bringing her baby and "Cutie Pie" puppy into the picture, then she wouldn't look at me, and it went on and on. But in the end, after about 10 minutes of photographing her, I looked at my images and realized that I had all the moods of Reese, and I loved them all. During my post-process edited, I played around - choosing a vintage wash for some, black and white for others, and just a pure color pop for the rest. I had purposely dressed her in a bright color against the white backdrop and vintage cream colored chair. I like the vibrant look of the color, but also love the nostalgic look of the vintage.
I can't wait to use my new vintage chair at my upcoming minisession event!!
This black and white image is delicious to me - it is purely about her without distraction.
Here is my moody Reese...I love the curl of her toes in the image on the right.
Textures can add to the mood of the image also...
The hands on the hips is classic Reese (she has become a little bossy lately!)
10 minutes, a bunch of different images, and one very happy mommy - me!
