pinkalicious cupcakes {fort lauderdale lifestyle photographer}

I have been working a lot.  And, sometimes I feel like I don't get enough quality time with the kids, or do enough fun activities.  So, yesterday, in between my morning and afternoon photo shoots, Reese and I went to the library.  We picked out some of her favorite books, including Pinkalicious.  If you are not familiar with the book, the little girl eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink the next day.  Well, Reese and I decided that we were going to bake pink cupcakes and see if she turned pink!  I was feeling like fun mom again! After today's lifesnap workshop, and after talking to the women about capturing every day moments, I knew I had to photograph our baking activity.  Here is the play by play:

our inspiration - I mean, what girl could resist all that pink?

the ingredients - we actually made the lowfat/cholesterol free recipe.  One box of vanilla cake mix, egg whites, water, and applesauce instead of oil. Then of course, the red food coloring to make everything pink and some cherries for on top.

My little chef - she has actually been cooking with me pretty much since she could stand up.  She pushes her chair to the counter, pours ingredients, stirs, and even helps me saute things on the stove.  I love our time cooking together.

And this is when things got a little crazy - apparently, baking cupcakes to Reese is just code for licking the bowl, the spoon, and anything that had cake batter or icing on it!

our perfectly imperfect cupcakes -

our recipe for pink icing -

and of course, more licking -

somehow, between baking the cupcakes and the cooling time, Reese decided to wear her favorite tiara -

Ta Da!!!

p.s. I'll let you know if she turns pink in the morning (;

All photos shot with the Nikon D700, 85 mm lens, F2.0, 125 shutter speed, 200 ISO, and window light.
